I had the most fun exploring the Toledo Museum of Art with Bethany and Adam for their engagement photos. Offering free general admission, the art museum has a lot to offer for regular visits and photo sessions alike. The Monroe Street Entrance, where we started out, is a popular location for wedding parties, prom photos, and more. The towering marble columns and steps make for an elegant backdrop, while the nearby sculpture garden adds a bit of extra interest. We made sure to take extra time there, jamming out to one of Adam’s favorite bands, Tame Impala, on Spotify.
The beauty and photo opportunities don’t stop at the front steps of the museum though. As long as no flash is used, and you check your bags in the lobby, the galleries are available photo locations during regular business hours. We wandered through both wings of the upper level, taking extra time in the Great Gallery and the Cloister Gallery. Throughout the session, I made sure to get some photos on my film camera, for an added touch of nostalgia. These two killed it for their session; they had chemistry for DAYS!! It made me even more excited to photograph their wedding this October.
Tinder brought Bethany and Adam together. They both went into their relationship thinking it was going to be a fling, but they clicked right away and haven’t been apart since. They’re getting married this October in a backyard wedding.
A & B are both huge art lovers — so the Toledo Museum of Art was the perfect choice for their photos. In fact, on the night they first met, Bethany taught Adam how to shade with paint. Bethany swears that when he tells the story, it sounds like he fell in love with her that night. They love going to art museums and art festivals in their spare time. Both of them play around with photography as a hobby too, including film too. It’s always an honor to photograph another photographer, so these two were a real treat. Separately, Adam is a total sci-fi and star wars nerd, while Bethany enjoys reading and anything plant-related.
The Toledo Museum of Art is by far one of my favorite places to visit, and it’s an incredible backdrop for couples who enjoy art or want a classic setting for their engagement photos. To learn more about the layout of the museum, check out the map on the museum’s website. If you and your boo are recently engaged, now is the perfect time to document this chapter of your lives.
