Some weddings feel like stepping into a storybook, and Karis and Tony’s wildflower-inspired day at Bloom and Bower in Rising Sun, Ohio, was exactly that. Nestled in Northwest Ohio, this Thursday celebration was filled with vibrant blooms, laidback vibes, and a love story that spans decades.
From a custom-designed gown to a post-ceremony canoe ride, this wedding captured the essence of nontraditional and intentional design—all with the help of the incredible team at Bloom and Bower.
Karis and Tony’s love story is one for the ages—literally. They met over 20 years ago through mutual friends, always staying in touch as their lives took different paths. Their connection grew deeper in 2020 when Tony’s remote work brought him back to Ohio for a month. It was during this time that they realized what their friends had probably suspected for years: they were meant to be.
After a long-distance relationship and a move back to Ohio, Karis and Tony decided to tie the knot in a way that reflected their shared love of good food, great music, and meaningful moments. Their wedding was as unique and heartfelt as their journey together.
Karis and Tony wanted a day that felt laidback yet intentional, with wildflower details at the heart of their vision. From the start, their invites had wildflower drawings across the bottom and were sent off in a cornflower blue envelope. That color laced throughout their details, including the bouquet ribbon and Karis’s shoes.
The floral design was nothing short of stunning, with vibrant, natural blooms adorning every corner of Bloom and Bower. Margaret, the venue’s incredible owner and lead coordinator, even lent her floral artistry skills to create the breathtaking arch installation for the ceremony. It was a true testament to the hands-on, personalized touch that sets Bloom and Bower apart.
Rounding out the wildflower-adorned wedding details was their cake. The two-tier confection had many flowers frosted on the side, according to the couples color scheme. Instead of a regular cake-topper, Karis and Tony had statues of their dogs made to decorate the cake.
The bride’s custom-designed dress was another standout detail, featuring whimsical elements that perfectly echoed the day’s theme. As an additional sentimental detail, Karis has a piece of one of her late father’s shirts sewed into the train of her dress. With no formal wedding party, the spotlight was on the couple, their adorable ringbearers and flower girls including Karis’s daughter.
A poignant tribute was made to Karis’s late father, with a seat saved for him during the ceremony and his jacket placed on her chair at the reception. During Tony’s vows, he also made sure to add an entire section devoted to his new step-daughter. These heartfelt touches added an extra layer of meaning to an already unforgettable day.
After a laughter-filled ceremony and exchanging personal, handwritten vows under the wildflower arch, Karis and Tony took a private canoe ride—a chance to soak in their newlywed bliss with a bottle of champagne while their guests enjoyed cocktail hour. It was the perfect representation of their relaxed, intimate approach to the day
Dinner was a crowd-pleaser: woodfired pizza that brought everyone together in a communal, joyful atmosphere. The reception continued with live music, good cocktails, and plenty of dancing under the stars.
