A Love Story That Started in Grade School

Kassidy and Doug have known each other since grade school. Kassidy was best friends with Doug’s sister and spent a lot of time at their house, though she initially didn’t have the best impression of Doug. Fast forward to high school, they fell in love and have been inseparable ever since. Now, nearly 13 years later, they tied the knot with a celebration that was pure magic!

Getting Ready at Maumee Bay 

The day started with Kassidy and her bridesmaids getting ready in one of the cozy cottages at Maumee Bay Lodge. Her mom helped her into her stunning dress from Twirl Bride, and the morning buzzed with joyful anticipation. Meanwhile, Doug and his groomsmen got ready in a lodge room, sharing laughs and a couple of drinks to calm the nerves!

First Look and Heartfelt Gifts 

Kassidy and Doug had their first look under a beautiful willow tree on the lawn. There were definitely tears as they saw each other for the first time that day. They also exchanged gifts — Kassidy gave Doug a pin with his late father’s photo, which was an incredibly touching moment. Doug gifted Kassidy a necklace, which he lovingly helped her put on. They then sat together on a bench, taking in the serene view of the water feature, a moment they had been looking forward to. I loved documenting these last moments before they officially became husband and wife!

Ceremony by the Water 

The outdoor ceremony by the water at Maumee Bay was perfect, with slightly overcast skies adding a soft light to the setting. Kassidy and Doug’s string quartet played beautifully as they exchanged vows. The atmosphere was filled with love and joy as they said their “I do’s” surrounded by their nearest and dearest.

Reception in the Ballroom 

The reception took place in the resort’s ballroom, which was elegantly decorated to match Kassidy and Doug’s vision of a fun yet classic wedding. After a grand entrance, they cut their cake from Eston’s Bakery and listened to some incredibly moving speeches! The bride’s stepfather’s speech was particularly moving, bringing most guests to tears.

Dancing the Night Away 

After dinner, we snuck out for some stunning sunset photos by the lake. Despite the cloudy weather, the setting was nothing short of magical. When we returned, the party was in full swing. Kassidy had a surprise hair change that wowed everyone, especially Doug! The dance floor, fueled by Next Level DJs, was bumping all night, and even the flower girls joined in the fun in their PJs.

One of the most memorable parts of the night was seeing Doug’s talent for dipping Kassidy during their first dance — it was like something out of a movie. The night ended with a fun tradition of placing Polaroid photos in their card box, a sweet surprise for them to find later!
